The Genovation GXE, a Corvette C7 driven by a purely electric cavalry
The Genovation GXE, a Corvette C7
driven by a purely electric cavalry of more than 800 hp, broke its own world
speed record (electric vehicle category) on the tarmac at the Kennedy Space
Center in Merritt Island, Florida.
For those who do not know it, the Innovation
GXE unveiled at the CES in Las Vegas 2018, is an electric car developed around
the platform of the Chevrolet Corvette C7, chassis inside which the American
team of Genovation Cars placed two electric motors developing a total power of
more than 800 hp and 950 Nm, powered by a 61.6 kWh battery offering a range of
around 280 km.
Thus equipped, the Genovation GXE
had already achieved the world speed record in its category with a peak
recorded at 210.2 mph (337.96 km / h), performance now overshadowed by a new
benchmark set at 211.8 mph (339.57 km / h ).
A performance which, Genovation
Cars no doubt hopes, will help sell the 75 copies of the GXE promised for
production next year. It is true that the electric sports car is not frankly
"given", with a sale price set at $ 750,000, which does not include
the cost of the Corvette C7 chassis.
